PLACES OF INTEREST:
SANTA MAGDALENA DE GARDILANS
It is a church located in Gardilans, documented from 10th century. The church is from 1001. It is a Romanesque building of 12th century which was later modified, in modern times. The belfry and the iron door stand out.
SANT JOAN DE VILADA
Sant Joan de Vilada appears already documented in the 903, in an act of consecration of the missing Santa Maria de Roset. The original building was Romanesque, of the 12th century, which there are only some walls. The present building was the result of some renovations occurred in the 17th century, following the models of rural baroque. It consists of a nave with side chapels and a belfry. Before disappearing in 1936, a baroque altarpiece of the Virgin del Roser stood out.
CASTLE OF ROSET
The remains of this old castle are on a rock, below La Serra de Picamill ( the saw of Picamill), of difficult access. The place is documented in the 11th century, but it is not until 1026 that the castle was properly named. In 1309, it was in power of Sibil·la de Berga. In 1321, it belonged to barons of Portella. Later, it was owned by Pinós. It was quite important in the 15th century during the Catalan Civil war (1462-1472). It seems that in the 16th century was deserted though the landlords of the Castle of Roset are documented until the 18th century.
SANT MIQUEL DE LES CANALS
Situated on the Canals of Sant Miquel. It is a small Romanesque building, but we don’t have information from it until the 18th century.
It is also necessary to appoint the interest of some country house of Vilada, such as: Els Eres de Vilada, El Soler, Casa Santpere, Ca Llebre, La Masó, or Les Eres de Guardiolans; This last documented in the 14th century. It was the residence of the scholar Ramon Anglerill as well as the resting place of the writer Aurora Bertrana in her last days of life.
